up at 4:30, hit the snooze button 'til about 5. burn some coffee, and try and get Rosie's lethargic ass outside (she still seems major league out of it at this point). I end up dragging the big pillow she lays on to the door, then coaxing her outside with food, then I hit the shower, only to find out that the water heater isn't working again (dammitt!!). I have to turn the air conditioner off in order for the pilot light to catch and the burner to work properly. I then wait a good 15 minutes for the water to heat up enough...meanwhile, Rosie just sits on the porch. I can't get her to pee, so I let her sit while I take a shower, throw some spaghetti in my lunchbox, and grab my gloves and sleeves. once I got everything in order, I have to pretty much help Rosie inside, and child gate her into the kitchen (so when she does pee, it's on the linoleum). I leave a letter for Brian (almost room mate), letting him know not to take the old lady for a walk if she's not up to it, then explained the lethargy, barfing and the like that she went thru the day before. I shoot off to work, but then it dawns on me about 3 hours later...did I turn the air conditioner back on after lighting the water heater?! if not, the little mammals will surely bake. I call the hippy neighbor lady, but I only got an answer machine. I'm not comfortable with her maybe getting the message on time, so I asked my boss if I could sneak home (after explaining the whole thing). he was cool about it. turns out, I guess I did turn on the air after all
. I try one more time to get Rosie to go outside to pee, but once again, she wouldn't go down the porch steps. I put her back in the kitchen and split for work. I felt better knowing the critters weren't gonna melt in that oven of a wood-panel submarine (when the air is off, windows closed, and the sun bakes the roof). I come home 'round 7pm and I'm amazed at how Rosie has bounced back. she's her silly old self again. we did our barefoot walk, she even pooped. when we got home I shared some chicken with her, then we watched yesterday's 'daily show' and 'ABC world news' (via hulu). I'm so glad she's back! I was hugely concerned...
gotta hit the rack, 4:30am comes around way too soon...
