of course, the last day before a 10 day vacation is gonna seem to last forever. I started gettin' sleepy with 4 hours to go
! near the end of the shift, I ask one of the girls (who were replacing old "visual factory" tape on the floor) if we're having a tour (seems that tape always gets ripped up, and replaced everytime a big wig is about to show up). she tells me that the owner himself will be visiting to determine whether the place will be shut down or not
. now there'd been talk, back when I started as a temp, last September, of either this place, or the one in Battle Creek being crucified (for lack of a better word), but rumor had it Battle Creek was the one. I hadn't held my breath since that news, and it's no shock if we are "the chosen one", being many a top dog from our shop transferred to Battle Creeks facility, so who knows? wait, why do I trust the rumors of the tape girl. she's just one of us peons who happened to get elected to spruce the place up, why should I give her any credence? anyway, true or not, I'm gonna be wondering if when I get off my vacation and go back to the stalag will my badge open the door? but, ya know what, another rumor has it that half the shop is on it's way to Mexico soon, so who really knows what's truth and what's just plain shillack? I'm not gonna worry about it. these are uncertain times (economically) so I'll just wing it. maybe I'll get me another 2 years of unemployment *crosses fingers*
...washing clothes, debugging my bedroom some more, doing some dishes, adding things to my "to do" list, including fixing my shed doors (they be slumpin' a bit), adding a 'real' drip pan to my grill, finding an industrial strength grill pad (for the grill to rest on), and maybe having my truck looked at to get the power steering from bleeding to death (as it has been forever now...thank you Lucas power steering stop leak for garunteeing that it'd stop the leak with one bottle or my money back. I'm on my forth $20 bottle
).anyway. I just made me beer run and it's nice outside, so maybe I'll mow da lawn *ready, GO!*
