circumnavigating Neptune
first half of the work day (Tuesday), I was fightin' a rare crappy mood. not so much about one particular thing, just one of those weird moods that I couldn't shake off. by the second half, it seemed to dissolve...I help bring Mark's (a co-worker) car to Tuffy muffler directly after work, then give him a ride back to it that evening. seems they wanted over a thousand bucks to fix his brakes, change the wheel bearings (and whatever else it needed)! that's a lot of cabbage!
I cleaned the shack like a fiend yesterday. swept and mopped the kitchen, did the dishes, and laundry, cleaned the bathroom, etc., then went shopping for a good $104 worth of groceries, filled the shrimpy truck's gas tank with $54 premium (the truck seems to not sputter at all while drinkin' premium). stopped by my favorite beer store for a sixer of microbrew/imports. Lion stout (Lion brewing co. PLC, Sri Lanka), Blue Star wheat beer (north coast brewing co. Fort Bragg, CA), Winter Solstice seasonal ale (Anderson valley brewing co., Boonville, CA), 422 pale wheat ale (southern tier brewing co., lakewood, NY), Turbodog (abita brewing co., abita springs, LA), and Kronenbourg 1664 (Brasseries Kronenbourg, Strasbourg, France). the chocolaty Lion beer was a favorite, yet it's hard to pick favorites due to them all bein' yummy, not to mention (but I will anyway), after about 3 beers, I stop caring about taste
. a lot of these microbrew/imports have high alcohol content. by the time I'm on the last one, I'm circumnavigating Neptune
.well, it's been a good week since the Kid wandered Souf. I hope he's hangin' in there. it's a huge adjustment! I'm sure he'll be fine. he's pretty level headed and strong willed. he's prob'ly already developed a South Carl'ina accent
. I remember when I left the nest. new house, new bride, new baby, new job, new everything. it's a wonder I didn't have a melt down
. big adjustments always take time...he's prob'ly a little home sick (or not?), but that'll pass. rock on duder! rock on!
wake up this morning 'round 9, burn some coffee, take a long pooperdog walk to get the mail. she slips her collar while we were almost home and runs a couple trailers down (I leave her collar real loose for her comfort). I had to use the bathroom real good, so I let her free roam for a spell. I bring the leash and collar along with a treat with me to see if I can catch her (not a hard feat, she's old and dusty
). when I caught up with her, she was on someones deck staring down at something(?). as I got closer I could see what she was inspecting. it was a deers head. I'm not even gonna ask why someone has a deer head on there porch, but ok. I collar her back up then head home. who knows what that dusty poodle brain of hers was thinkin' while staring into the cold eyes of a dead deers head? she was prob'ly contemplating the savageness of the human race, or just wanted to know what a deer hypothalamus tastes like...who knows?nothing on the agenda today, I did it all yesterday. I may go and get my haircut, but otherwise, maybe a power-nap and some slackage is in order. having said that, I do have to remember to pick up the cool hippy neighbor lady from Grand Rabbits airport 'round 6 tonight.
ugh...more coffee!
