  • cake walk

yep, just as I suspected, bad news from the vet.  seems Rosie has heart worm.  it's transmitted by mosquito, of which we've had almost zero of, due to the current drought situation.  the vet suspects she got it over the mild winter (oddly enough).  he recommends not giving her the cure, being that she's over the hill, and it alone might do her in (he likens it to Chemotherapy), plus, it's very expensive and pretty hard to come by, so we agree on the next best thing. prescription antibiotics for a month. he says "it won't kill them all off, but it will lessen the load".  I feel bad for the old girl, but she still seems to enjoy a good walk, getting petted, and everything else old dogs like, so we'll see what's next...and as a bonus, she has had been more regular since she started the pill regimen.  she was doing the chronic diarrhea thing before hand.  not pleasant (for her or for the guy that's gotta pick it upstunned).

creative online banking (due to not getting paid last week, and only getting 20 hours pay this coming Friday) scrapes together enough money (along with Brian's rent) to pay this months lot rent, making that the last thing this month that needed to get paid.  I look at my calender and realize I've only worked a total of 68 hours this month (that's normally what I might pull off in a week, and this being the beginning of the 4th weekshocked).  not to worry, I've been doing creative banking for the past 35 years. this is a cake walk compared to other binds I've been inshy.

the past weekend included drinkin' some craft ale, some barefoot pooperdog walks, a "Sunday drive" or two, and watching the British Open.  just plain good old relaxation.  back to the stalag for an 8 hour shift last night, and just like clockwork, we didn't make our impossible rate (due mostly to our shitty assembly line machinery), so we gotta pull a 10 hour day tonightwhatevah.  and like most every other "normal" week, I'd say we'll pull 10's and 12's for the remainder of the week and work Saturday, yet they insist that we're working toward running 8 hour days with weekends off.  dude, whatever. I'm still not gonna hold my damn breath. I've heard the rhetoric before, yet I keep going back, because apparently I like miserysilly.   blah, blah, blah.

    nothing new otherwise...

  • Rosie has had some good times and especially enjoyed the last part of her life. Heck, I've enjoyed just reading about her these past few years! Having gone through this recently, I know there are no good words for it. Comfort and affection are what she wants and needs, and she's already been having that, so it's all cool. Still, I'm sorry to read about it, and I'll raise a toast for our fuzzy friends. Fuzzy families, actually. Oh, you know what I mean.

  • @hoohah - thanks Hooey...A TOAST to fuzzy family indeed!.   here's hopin' things are groove-chicken by you. Squabber McCheese says Hi too *fart*
