already we're told that we gotta work this Friday night, but the line that makes rails for us is falling behind, so, like last week, we'll prob'ly get that call saying don't come in *crosses fingers*
being that both my cars (the shrimpy bat mobile and the shrimpy truck) have had engine lights come and go, I buy me one of those diagnosticators that plug into your cars computer (OBD II). the truck has some sort of compression problem with the plug misfiring in cylinder 3 (prob'ly 'cause it's old and tired). I clear the engine light, and it's good to go for a couple months until it gives me the same reading. the shrimpy batmobile, on the other hand, has the engine light come on every time you start it. I bought the car with the light on. the dealer assured me that it was prob'ly a loose gas cap. I had autozone check it initially and they said it was prob'ly due to dirty oil. fast forward to my first oil change, and the guy tells me (without me telling him about the engine light) that who ever changed the oil last (which was the auto dealer) had left the old oil filter in, and mentions that if I had driven it any further that it could've caused damage to the engine. I call the auto dealer and tell them what I've learned and of course, they deny any filterless oil change, but will be happy to look at the problem this coming Monday. Brian said he'd help me drive it to the dealer on Sunday where I'll drop the key in the slot and let them do there thing. I think I got my ass covered because I was able to get them to sign an 'I owe' sheet stating that if the engine light is STILL on after 2 weeks of ownership, they'd take care of it, and if that doesn't fly the repair should be covered by that platinum warranty that came with it. the car otherwise seems fine and is a blast to drive! one other small annoyance is the trunk seems to leak bad when I bring it thru a car wash. I wet vac and let it dry in the sun while I sleep. the easy solution is never bring it to a car wash. I get no trouble when I wash it by hand. I'm thinkin' the design that has the trunk lid close against the convertible top isn't made to take pressure washes. anywho, once this car is up to snuff (engine light wise), I gotta make an appointment for the clutch job on that truck before winter befalls us...
anyway. gotta get ready for another stint at the stalag.
