sicky hooky?
couple inches of snow [finally] and a bitter cold wind chill makes for frost bitten pooperdog walks. I got a heavy jacket, good ski mitts, but I still need something more sufficient to cover my whole (the holes in my) head. that old ski band that simply covers the ears at doin' it. maybe I'll get me one of those goofy plaid Yooper peninsula hats, that have the deer skin ear flaps. I looked at those last year, but never pulled the 'add to cart' trigger....
this bitter cold snap has my power steering whine like a big dog when starting it up. once warmed up, the noise goes away, but that initial turn of the key is way loud. I think it's still has 90% stop leak fluid in it, which is molasses thick to begin with. the colder the weather, the more it turns into pine tree sap consistency. I'm waiting for the serpentine belt to give way on one of these cold starts. I got another belt behind the bench seat just in case. here's hopin' I don't have to replace it in the cold darkness...speakin' of which, I really should put a flash light in the old bomb for just such an occasion. maybe I'll cob the one I have from the shrimpy bat mobile *plan*
while shopping last weekend, I notice that there were red tags on the empty shelves that used to hold Waggin' train dog snacks, saying "do not restock, item has been recalled". I look on line for a reason why, it looks as if they were made with a trace amounts of anti-biotic (according to Waggin' trains website), which in other countries is ok, but doesn't pass the US standards. other links go on to include stories of kidney failure and even death due to feeding there dogs these treats. other brands include Milo's kitchen (which I also buy). damn! I gotta wonder if I'm poisoning my dog every time I buy her snacks? not good. not good at all. *link*
the 3 day weekend consisted of lots of beers, Tiger Woods '13 golf, football playoff games watched, some bar-b-que chicken (grilled by Brian), made with steamed asparagus, cheesy rice, and some sauteed mushrooms (mmmmmmmmmmms! did I mention that guy can cook? prob'ly.)
I almost bought another bass guitar. this one resembling my very first guitar. a Univox Hi-flier, but it wasn't meant to be, being someone out bid me. oh well. maybe next time...I really ought to play the one's I got, and stop pretending that I'm a "musician", simply by having more guitars (hehe!!). I'd play it now, but for whatever reason, Brian didn't wake up for work. I wonder if I should knock on his door? nah. he's been sickly most of the weekend. maybe he decided to play sicky hooky?
. I've been lucky [so far] that I haven't caught the bug. anyway. sleeeeeeep
