after these past 5-ish (Fyvush Finkel?) driving range experiences (the latest being this morning), I have a great respect for anyone who can consistently hit the ball where they want, and an even greater respect for those who take it on as a career and play the game like there throwing darts and making it look easy. meanwhile, they're naming craters, larger than the moon's own Tycho, where my weekend hacker turf gougers have been created
. I can't say I'm getting any better with each outing, but I am less muscle sore after each. maybe I'm relaxing a bit. actually, this mornings range work wasn't so much crater making, but I had many o' swings where the Tee went flying and the ball stayed where the tee was pushed into the ground. I guess I gotta choke up a bit. there's so many ways to ruin a good shot. I think I've discovered all of them without even trying
. maybe lessons are in my future? meanwhile, it's fun trying to be Tiger
.
another nice day! yesterday, I bought some turf filler grass (ummm) stuff. where you can fill in patches of lawn that are damaged. in this case, where Rosie used to dig holes in the lawn when she got tangled up in her lead line attached to the porch. I guess she figured no use going E,W,N,or S, and I can't go up, so I might as well dig down
. after leveling said area, I seeded it, and watered it (to be watered twice a day for 10 days). immediately followed by black birds pickin' away at the area. dammit! I just spent $14 to feed some dingbat birds. I could've bought a block of suet for $13 cheaper. maybe I'll chain Squabber out there so he can chase these varmints away *fart*
Chinese buffet (China king buffet) for lunch and a double fish-wich combo (Checkers) for supper (it was one of those days I didn't feel like cooking). I don't know as I'll ever go back to this Checkers. it took me a good half of an hour waiting in the drive thru line before I could even place my order. even though the sandwich itself was damn worth the 1/8th of a gas tank it took to get it
. I guess I'll never know another sandwich that has as big of a carbon footprint as one bought at this Checkers location. it's got a single road curving along the back of it, that once commited, you can't abort or pass along side to escape, but you don't realize this, until you've made the turn in, that they've got ya. I think it'll be their downfall. the place used to be an old Hot 'n' Now. I bet they went under for the same reason. we'll see how long they last/ or improve their drive thru experience.
a lawn chair, and an MP3 player full of 'They Might Be Giants' calls me...
