one more day of football bowl after football bowl, beer after beer with Mike on Thursday. I felt so burned out, that when he asked to do it again tonight, I had to explain my burn-outtedness with both football and beers, and will just be a hermit bum tonight (good call...my liver will appreciate a couple days off before going back to work on Monday). before drinkin' all the football, and watching all the beer, I take my car into the shop (did I write about this? prob'ly). he gets the windshield in as well as the passenger window, but calls during the day, and asks if he could leave it overnight, because they sent the wrong mirror (I'm almost positive I've already written about this....oh well. read it again). next morning, he calls and says they sent him the wrong mirror again (this time it wasn't the wrong style, but the driver's side instead of the passengers side). dang it! I wanted him to get that mirror on in the morning so I could bring it into the leaf spring guy in the afternoon. I 'splain this to him, and he suggests that I drive it to the leaf spring guy with the passenger door half torn up (you gotta have the inside panel off to affix the mirror), and he (leaf spring guy) can do his thing, while the right mirror comes into the glass guy shop (to be installed either after the leaf spring guy on that day, if there's time, or on Friday). good idea! I bring it to the leaf spring guy. long story short, he's able to put the replacement brackets on within a couple hours. next day, I drop off my car, once again, to the window guy. he's able to affix the correct mirror while I cross the street and do KFC. so before the new year begins, I'm able to get my truck back to "normal" again...or so I thought. on the way to his shop, the "check engine" light comes on. I eagle eye the gauges to make damn sure it's nothing important (oil pressure, thermostat, what have you). this has happened before, it runs real rough in first gear, the light comes on, then it runs fine. when I had a repair guy look at it before, his computer (hooked to my truck computer) came up with a "misfire" error. that's prob'ly what I got now. it did essentially the same thing. he told me that it's ok to drive that way. it just meant that one of the cylinders plugs misfired. then on the way back from the glass guys shop, my exhaust pipe goes and breaks in half. dammit!! it's louder than a dragster, so I stop off at the brake/muffler place, and they're able to weld the pipe back together for $50. it was good timing to get replacement glass in. it's been raining hard ever since...(yeah, raining and high fifties. some Michigan winter, heh? it's 57 degrees currently at 1am, January first). I spend my new year (beerless, and footballess, of course) watching a Netflix movie called "Shutter Island". better flick than I thought it'd be!
let's see. what else. other than a crazy week of running around, and half drowning in football and beer, it's been a good week off! after turning Mike down, I realize how many munchies, tupperware, plates, bowls, shirts and sunglasses this guy leaves 'round my house, so I collect it all up and bring it to his house. he wasn't home, but I leave it all on his porch. he'll prob'ly be back tomorrow and ask about more beers and football. I'll have to turn him away, although, maybe I'll have a beer or two watching the LIONS win on Sunday (how about those LIONS!! THAT'S 3 WINS IN A ROW!!! how long ago has that happened?!
the pooperdog and I share a fried egg, bacon and cheese mcmuffin (homemade) for our midnight new years celebration. good stuff!
oops. batt'ry power low. hit "save", spell check later, then plug it back in...
