  • cold from the higher hell

Tuesday rolls around, and my throat feels better, but the rest of the cold suddenly catches up. I'm feelin' weak and socked full of crud.  5:30pm comes around, and I make the call.  yep.  take the day off, and sleep...I use up what little over the counter stuff I have for colds, and hope it goes away before the next work day.  no such luck. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, are all 'hell days'!  I'm hackin', I'm snottin', I'm still feelin' weak. making peeps nervous that they too won't catch my crud (the temp service doesn't issue any "sick days" or "vacation days"...what other choice do I have, but to infest the rest of the shopsilly)  12 hour days feel long to begin with, let's add the misery of a rotten cold and make it that much more funwhatevah.  when ya pull a 12 hour day with a cold, ya never seem to catch up on rest. I'm already burned out before I get to work the next day. somehow, I zombie thru, as I always do, then I hit the store on the way home Friday, and pick up more Theraflu, and Dayquil.  I've been in an otc drug induced coma ever since.  here it's 8am on Sunday, and I still feel weak and crappy (yet a bit better than yesterday).  anyway, I have 'til Monday night to shed this crap before trudging thru yet another 12 hour stint at the stalag...

due to this crappy cold, I still have beers leftover from a week ago! unheard of!laughing. the thought of sluggin' down a coldey, in the current state i'm in, makes me wanna hurl...

why does coffee taste so crappy when ya got a cold?! yick!  earthworm dirt!wtf.  I do some online banking and set some new goals.  first, pay down last years credit card bill (accrued from fixing a smashed truck) by $100/month (a goal, I suspect, will be easily attained, if I get hired into the stalag, but for now, I'll stick with this conservative plan). with today's $70 transfer and $30's from a couple weeks ago, January's goal is met. and secondly, save 20% of my paycheck.  you're supposed to "pay yourself first" right (even though this is my second goalwhatevah)? I usually don't. I gotta force myself to do this one.  last week I put $92.19 into savings. this week, $82.20. It's something that has to be done! I need an emergency fund!  I'm always tapped (or near tapped) when it comes to saving for a rainy day. currently there's $220 (plus change) in savings. not a bad start.  I write my new goals on a piece of paper taped to the wall in front of my computer desk, as a reminder (i notice things get paid off quicker when I have a physical reminder staring me in the face.  whatever works, right?  rock on!).

let's see.  otherwise, short pooperdog walks (due to it being blisteringly cold out, we take an abbreviated walk.  it's currently 8 below zero Fsurprised), and use up another kleanex box...
