  • alright, so we got this young guy (23-ish) on our line who asked me the other day, what was my favorite concert ever (him, being kind of a metal head, and likes to talk music)?  and because I've pondered this before, it was easy for me to say "FEAR...at Miller's Cave (small bar) in Grand Rabbits".  later, he asks me what was number 2? Jeez!.  I've been to a hundred (+/-) concerts over the years. the big venues normally turned me off (although, it was cool to see Genesis, the Police, ZZ top, etc).  it was usually Friday night at the local pub that was the coolest. the Intersection bar in East GR (now located on the north side of town) or 'the Reptile House' on Division was the tits for up and comers as far as alternative coolness goes.  Goober and the Peas (later, the drummer went his own way to create the now famous  'White Stripes') and/or the Descendants (who, later became the band ALL?)  preforming at the bowling alley bar on the north side of GR (Miracle Lanes) would be my number 2 and 3 slots (for lack of a better word)...it's fun to recollect.  there are so many cool bands that I've seen, it's hard to categorize (beyond third place)...if I go back even further, it's even harder to say what's the  best?  there was a club (so to speak)  in the late '80s/ early '90s called "the new beat club" who met every weekend in one of the polish halls on the west side of town that served dollar beers in Styrofoam cups and highlighted the newest punk band in the circuit.  it was blast to be a participant!  I wish I would have paid attention as to who was headlining...I did, for awhile there, buy T shirts (and cassettes) from these bands, getting them autographed, with the idea of hanging on to them for future sake, but would always destroy them by wearing them to work at the grease factory that I had always come to work for...whatevah.   man, if I only had saved these memento's, I'd prob'ly...ummm.  not be rich money wise, but rich in the knowledge that I had the only signed shirt by, say, 'Bot fly', 'Nine Volt Tongue', 'Nice Lawn', 'the Phantom Surfers', 'Insect Surfers',  'Naked Ray gun', 'the Casualties' (and dozens and dozens of others...) who's members may or may not have gone onto "bigger and better" bands...

anyway.  I'm sittin' in day 2 (of my 3 day orientation at work), and I can easily pick out the one's (out of 30 new hires in the room) who will be gone within, say, 6 months (if not by the end of orientationsilly).  there's a couple of young guys who continually amaze me (others seem to give them the blank stare as well).  neither one has done their drug screen yet (which was due before last Wednesday), and they (of course) are also the two that haven't the correct paperwork (license, birth cert, Social Security card, etc), they punch in late for orientation,  they missed the window of an hour and a half to get their picture taken for their new time card, using the lamest excuses and asking the most retarded questions that were just gone over by the HR rep, etc, and so on....I wonder, at this point, if they even know how to feed and care for themselves?  it's that bad.  seriously! and listen, I was young once too, but come on! you want to get hired in, right?!  (maybe not.  maybe they know something the rest of us don't)whatevah. pay attention, get your shit together, be were ya gotta be, when ya gotta be there, with the things HR tells you to bring in.  is that so hard?! apparently. dumb asses!silly

    *fart*

I get a snail mail reminder that Rosie is due for her 3 year rabies vaccine. I gotta get her a summertime supply of heart worm pills and flea drops as well (flea drops for the Squab too). as I'm reading the reminder, I (once again) laff at the fact that my vet clinic  is located on Paw Paw drive *snirt*

  • After the dumb asses statement I just read, you almost smacked of dad.  heh.  Sorry, just thought I'd throw that Dutch thing in your face.  I like that you're being all mature and stuff though.  Very manly of you.  Hope you like your job.  Bennies help immensely.  I think we'll be losing those when Mike retires unless I get me a good job.  Eek.  Better not get sick or somethin'.  Hi!

I just got a thingy from Carl saying he's in a play or something on April 14th.  If you're goin', can I got too?  Let me know if you are and maybe I'll tag.

  • @thesecretlife0fme - heh! I did sound a little like dad, didn't I.  'cept he prefers the term 'dipstick' over 'dumb ass'.
